Traditional Hawaiian dishes and delicacies will be available for purchase including kalua pig, lau lau, poi, beef teriyaki sticks and hot malasadas

I went one day to thIs Polynesian Festival in the field behind California.  It was not very crowded, free, and fun.  We have similar events in my home area, but they are usually Italian or Greek themed.  This was really new for me.
I saved money because it was the Kentucky Derby and I got involved in the festival and forgot to bet the horse I intenede, and the horse lost.  Plus $15, even with my mango on a stick.

It was a jumble of tents with food and clothes and art and a stage with music.  Much of the food is off my diet, but I did have a delicious mango on a stick.  Ir onically, this from from a Spanish tent

Here was the spice they added to the mango.

This barbecue was very tempting but I was true to my diet that day and went meatless.

Crafts and clothing were pretty expensive, but interesting.

These were young girl members of an aerobics group in Vegas that does Hawaiian moves to modern, even rap music.  It was very interesting to watch.

 Hawaiian band
This dancer was delightful and had won some awards.

Seems the Hawaiians have their own take off on African American tees
This was on a person who walked in front of me, so I snapped it.  I love the fish hook which is very common in Hawaiian design for clothing and for jewelry.  Here is some of the tradition

I went to this festival on laundry day.  By accident I washed all my underwear, so when I was getting ready to go out while they dried I put on some light sleeping pants figuring they would be fine under my jeans.  It was not until later that I found out I had visited the Polynesian outdoor festival, including I suppose my poor attempts to learn the hula, with jeans that had a flare out the legs of blue material decorated with fishing flies.  I wondered why one vendor asked me if I were an artist.  I looked very different.  It was unusual.  The flare looked as if it were sewn on purpose into the cuffs of the pant legs  Perhaps I have started an entire new fashion trend in Hawaii.  Here are the photos of my feet.
