This is terrific information for those of us who don't rent cars in Vegas. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us!

Thankyou for the information Dewey.
I've never ventured past Ellis Island/Hard Rock Casino, but now I think I may

Ah, another devotee of the RTC system as an alternative to shuttles and cabs. I've found that you can get to basically every significant casino except the M resort on an RTC bus. True, Suncoast and Ramparts involves a long walk from the bus stop but it's doable is the temperature is below 85. I use RTC to routinely visit the N. Las Vegas Blvd casinos and catch a connection over to the original Cannery.

I strongly suggest spending the $1 or so that they charge for the printed route/schedule book. It includes a list of all the casinos and the bus route that gets you there.

Finally, as you noted, this puts you in contact with the real people of Las Vegas and adds balance to the Strip experience.

Thanks Kirby. I agree the book is valuable for route information, but I find the kind of annecdotal reports I am collecting here more helpful as they can include traffic, neighborhood issues, and some places folks might like to visit.
Also, the routes are changing all the time so keeping up with them will be a challenge and require newer additions of the book. Since most of us go back after a few months, any out of date material may confuse us.
The goggle search works pretty well and will be current, hopefully.
I think there is a shuttle to M from the Fashion Show Mall. That is easily reached by a number of routes.

Thanks!

Where exactly is the elevator to take to ground zero for the buses after you get off the trams? Also ground zero is level 1 on the elevator buttons?

Sorry to be so dumb!

No problem with questions Mad Dog. My first try at buses had me worried I'd be lost.
You can get delayed if you head in the wrong direction, but you can't get lost. Someone will redirect you.
Head to area that separates the two baggage claim areas. This is also where there is a bridge to short term parking which you might use if someone were picking you up in a private car.
I can't remember the exact location of the elevator. There are at least two elevators but only one that goes to ground zero. They are not far apart. I rode the wrong one last time as I was day dreaming and I just got back out and looked for the other one. I think the button in the elevator says 0 for ground zero.
If there is no 0, you have the wrong elevator.
The way to easily recognize this elevator is that it is the only one that is enclosed in glass so that as folks going up or down can see out the rear of the elevator and people looking at the elevator can see them going up or down. The back wall of the elevator is glass from floor to ceiling.
If you are confused, just ask any airport worker for ground zero.
At ground zero you will see many buses and shuttles from hotels, but no cabs or personal cars. As you exit you can ask for the city bus stop again, or just turn right and walk to the extreme end of this ground zero area. The bus stop is to the right as you leave the terminal.
It is a short walk, but you won't see it just as you exit the terminal because there are cement supports in the way. You will have to walk a couple hundred yards before it comes into view.
You won't miss it. It is not confusing. It is the only stop that looks like a bus stop. Other buses are parked in garage like parking spaces.
I hope that helps.

The DTC is not being "moved" to Centenial Hills. The DTC is being replaced with a new facility at Casino Center and Clark, about 1/2 mile south of the existing DTC.

I think what most people wonder is how this will not affect the ease of bus travel from downtown Vegas. Is that half mile a safe walk? When I passed the construction site in a bus in May, it did not seem like a place I'd want to walk. So it seems that would require taking a bus to the DTC and then out to other destinations. Every trip would be two buses.

Those printed transit guides noted in the comments section will be new and include the ACE routes. Published this coming March.
