TRIP REPORT SNIPPET POKER COMPED FOOD AT THE GOLDEN NUGGET

POKER COMPED FREE FOOD AT THE GOLDEN NUGGET

Players earn $2 an hour in comps on their cards at the Golden Nugget.

I used to love that when they had a buffet, because they had a very comfortable and tasty buffet.

No buffet now. Perhaps next trip.

By my second trip I had enough comps to buy a decent supper, so I went to Claimjumper's where I ordered salmon. The waiter suggested the cajun style, a blackened salmon. I liked the place and enjoyed the meal although I thought the salmon was just a bit overcooked. It was still good, however.

I am fussy about salmon.

Perhaps if I had not ordered the blackened, it would be a bit more juicy.

Like most places there was a huge wait for a table, 40 minutes. I walked out on the strip and around the casino. I visited the actual golden nugget, the largest such nugget in the world.

On the strip, a rather soft version of a dominatrix was trying to get folks into a streetside bar, smiling at them, and inviting. She was pretty cute.

As I passed her, she lightly tossed her very soft whip and wrapped it around the back of my legs.

And then she laughed.

That's my first such experience. It was a fun fantasy for a moment, and at my age a moment of sexual fantasy is sufficient.

What a laugh that story got when I told it to my relatives at our next meetup.

I was heading into the restaurant when they text-ed me that my table was ready. After that text, I would have just 7 minutes to arrive. It was good timing.

My third visit I had about ten dollars comps and I wanted to use them up. The dealer recommended The Grill, and it was a great suggestion. There was hardly anyone there.

The Grill serves fast food which is ordered and picked up at the counter, but there are a few tables to sit and eat. I asked the woman serving food to recommend how I might use up my dollar.

She suggested a hot dog.

Hot dogs were $9 and very much off my diet in three ways.

Besides, the two weeks before in Blackhawk, Colorado, I could get a hot dog every day for free with my players card at Bull Durham.

9 dollars????

I could see some ice cream bars and asked about them, figuring if a hot dog was $9, an ice cream bar might be $5.

Nope, they were only a dollar.

I did not want to try to eat ten iced cream bars just to use up my comps.

So, I looked at the menu, and for a couple bucks more, I had chicken wings. These were very good too.

I ate them at the table and picked up after myself.
