The El Cortez established a fee for booking more than 7 nights in a calendar month.  It is $25 a night.  Some report discounters charging $25 a night for the first 7 nights as well. One interesting fellow I met at the Sam's Town poker tournament lived in Colorado, but traveled to Del Rio, Texas to fish. HARRAH's Very nice.  A real step up from the Flamingo.  Thanks to information from the discussion boards, I chose a quiet room in the Mardigras Tower.  Better rooms could be had but they wanted money for those.  The check in people were very nice and talked to us about the room choices.  Elizabeth was pleased.
