NAVIGATIONAL NOTE

POSTS WILL LOAD IN SMALL BATCHES, SO DON'T QUIT AT THE END OF THE FIRST BATCH.
IN THE LOWER RIGHT HAND CORNER WILL BE A PROMPT "OLDER POSTS"  THAT WILL BRING A SECOND BATCH.
POSTED DATES ARE FAIRLY USELESS ALTHOUGH THEY DO SEPARATE ONE YEAR FROM ANOTHER.
THE DAYS I POST ARE NOT THE DAYS I HAVE EXPERIENCED THE POST OR IDEA.
SKIM FOR INFORMATION OR USE A SEARCH FOR KEY WORDS ON INTEREST.

I DO NOTHING COMMERCIAL OR RELIGIOUS WITH THIS SITE.  TO AVOID THESE AND OTHER SORTS OF SPAM I HAVE TO TAKE A LOOK AT ALL COMMENTS BEFORE POSTING, SO READERS WON'T SEE THEM APPEAR RIGHT AWAY.

ANYTHING I POST WITH THE LABEL TR SNIPPET" CONTAINS THE KIND OF INFORMATION USUALLY INCLUDED IN A TRIP REPORT, ONLY INSTEAD OF BEING SEQUENTIAL, THE INFORMATION IS SEPARATED AND ARRANGED BY TOPIC.
SKIM FOR TOPICS OF YOUR INTEREST.

YOU CAN LINK TO ANY SINGLE POST IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SHARE IT WITH ANYONE AND SAVE THEM HUNTING THROUGH THE BLOG.  ANY PHOTOS OR TEXT MAY BE CUT AND PASTED IN OTHER PLACES, BUT PLEASE INCLUDE A LINK TO THIS BLOG AS THE SOURCE.

COMMENTS CAN BE MADE EASILY BELOW ANY POST.  I LOVE ANY AND ALL COMMENTS ON THE TOPIC OF LAS VEGAS OR GAMBLING, BUT IF YOU CAME FROM A VEGAS DISCUSSION BOARD, YOU WILL PROBABLY WANT TO MAKE THOSE COMMENTS BACK  ON THAT BOARD FOR A LARGER AUDIENCE AND A RICHER DISCUSSION.  FEEL FREE TO MAKE THEM BOTH PLACES.

IF YOU COMMENT, IT IS EASY TO CHOOSE THE ANONYMOUS OPTION, BUT PLEASE GIVE ME SOME SENSE OF WHO YOU ARE IN THE TEXT OF THE COMMENT AND HOW YOU FOUND ME.  THAT IS VERY HELPFUL FOR MODERATION.
FOR SOME REASON BLOGSPOT NO LONGER SENDS ME AN EMAIL EVERY TIME  A READER COMMENTS, SO IT MIGHT TAKE ME A WHILE TO MODERATE IT AND PUBLISH.  I
GET TO EVERYTHING
EVENTUALLY.

My latest trip report is finished enough to post.  I may gather some other photographs from other folks and add them in later.
I usually divide the trip report into sections rather than go sequentially, but this time it made sense to just go from beginning to end.  I did post in reverse order, so you can read the entire report by starting with the first post.
Also, I am blogging more now for myself than for a community of gambling friends.  The reason is that I am losing memory.  The doctor says not to worry, but I just hate that I can't recall where I stayed or what I did or thought, so this is not a short report with just facts.  It includes reflections and details that I want to review before I go again or on those middle of the night times when I want to revisit and relive a good experience.

Hey there Dewey, just got back from Vegas. I couldn't find anything there on the WEX. I rode the bus from the airport to the palms. just took the normal routes (Swenson to Flamingo).

Also, the Palms now has a $12.50 resort fee. I didn't know that when I booked my room. The whispered a host could maybe take care of it etc. I complained and did call a host too. We'll see if I get refunded (I checked out after 1 night, was supposed to be a 3 night stay). But I won't stay at the Palms anymore probably due to the resort free.

The WAX, Westcliff Ariport Express would not have helped you go to the Palms. The closest it would get would be NYNY. So your bus route was the way to go.
Sorry about the resort fee. I did hear that was happening on one of the boards.
If I were you, if I got no satisfaction from the Palms, I'd take steps to dispute the charge on the charge card unless that has been paid in a prior month.
Sad to see these resort fees spreading so many places. I'm happy CET (the Harrah's casinos) took a stand against them.

I did see the Westcliff Airport Express map there at the Ground Zero kiosk where I bought my 24 hour bus pass and caught the bus., I didn't realize that was the WAX.

I'm still figuring it out and it'll change before my next visit I'm sure.

Dewey,

I had a host call from the Palms yesterday and apologize about how long it's been (I checked out a week ago). He said he had to get a new phone, blah blah blah. But he is crediting me the resort fee $12.50 (I only stayed one night). He also said the resort fee is wildly unpopular (surprise). Anyway, it's resolved.

Wonderful. Nice follow up. The hosts must hate these fees. They destroy that warm, fuzzy feeling that the casino is our friend and reveal the ugliness of their greed.
El Cortez Cabana looks better every day.
